This blog game is serious!
I'm so thankful for all the support and info from my veteran blog friends
When
I first decided to start blogging I had all kinds of apprehensions but was still curious
enough to educate myself about it. But what to talk about? Mark Twain said there are no original ideas and there already are lots of blogs out there about art. So I figured fuck it. ArtBong.net isn't necessarily special but it's mine and I enjoy putting these art posts together, deciding
what to feature while learning new things because I needed something besides the sometimes soul killing grind of working for a paycheck to keep me sane and creative. Here in Musings, I go into how exploring, researching, compiling, and organizing on this road to discovery and improvement are helping to challenge and flex my brain to keep it from turning into mush. Besides, I've always enjoyed learning new things and expanding my brain. After all, knowledge is power. Right?
The long time bloggers in my life are so positive and encouraging, telling me to get off the sidelines and "just do it!" They, along with their hundreds, sometimes thousands of followers made it seem effortless and natural. Writing isn't something I ever considered one of my strong suits but I think all the reading (including the audio books) seem to be helping me get the words out. But I realize all the studying, research, and reading won't do any good if not applied. Now that I've been blogging for a couple of months, I feel I've hit a new stride with consistency (a big tip from my blog mentor, JackieDRockwell.com pardon the shameless plug but she's been a great help), I hope to post more frequently, and now looking at subjects and finding a commonality to justify spending time compiling a post to share. I wouldn't want to come out
at the other end with a "so what?" or be so wordy the reader loses interest. That's what happens to me when faced with anything other than a book (yeah, I'm not reading all that) and almost immediately move one. Blogging is a bit like art itself, you create something that didn't exist before, it's your baby and you present it to the world and hope you get a good reaction.
